Life is sweet for Paul (François Cluzet – Tell No One). He has become the owner of a charming hotel in an idyllic, rural town and is married with a child to the beautiful Nelly (Emmanuelle Béart – Une femme française). However, mounting financial woes and intense jealously over his wife lead Paul into an engulfing world of doubt and paranoia.
Adapted from Henri-Georges Clouzot’s aborted 60s project (with Romy Schneider and Serge Reggiani lined up as the leads), Chabrol does justice to his predecessor with a taut drama that oozes tension and suspense in every frame.
