The Key

The Key is a fine thriller which works in two time frames, 1975 and 2007. The cast of actors features some of France’s most loved: Guillaume Canet, Vanessa Paradis, Jean Rochefort and Josiane Balasko to name but a few. Fans of 70s French cinema will be pleased to see Francoise Lebrun, notably of Jean Eustache ‘s La Maman et la Putain), and Maria Schneider, who has made a range of films since her infamous role in Last Tango in Paris. The film intertwines the destinies of three lives; Éric Vincent who learns his absent father is dead, then finds out he is about to become a father; a police officer investigating the murder of a man burned alive and François Manéri, a private detective, looking feverishly for his missing daughter. Suffice to say, this film has a lot of twists and turns that will leave those who watch it at the edge of their seats and the desire watch it again.
