Golden Globe nominee Stanley Tucci is interviewed about his toughest and most disturbing role to date in Peter Jackson’s Lovely Bones, based on Alice Sebold’s novel of the same name. The film merges the dark story of the rape and murder of a 14 year old girl (Saorise Ronan) with a fantastical science fictional element, as the girl watches over her family (and killer) in heaven. Lee Daniels’ film Precious, based on the Novel Push by Sapphire, was already garnering attention and debate even before its domestic release. The story of an illiterate, 16-year-old Claireece "Precious" Jones (Gabourey Sidibe) facing the abject horrors of child abuse has been seen as a commentary on racism, poverty and abuse. However it is also illuminates the message of endurance and hope. Gabourey Sidible has already gained 9 awards for her lead role and a Golden Globe nomination. Director Rob Marshall talks about his newest screen musical venture Nine, the story of director Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis), who is facing a midlife crisis amidst creative and romantic frustrations. It is a modern day take on Fellini’s masterpiece, 8 1/2. Marshall, who scooped an Oscar for his adaptation of the musical Chicago (an unusual feat), discusses working with some of the most celebrated actors in the industry, including Day Lewis, Judy Dench, Penelope Cruz and Nicole Kidman.
