CATE BLANCHETT IS A SUSTAINABLE STYLE ICON AT THE 2020 VENICE FILM FESTIVAL
The actress re-wears two iconic designs on the red carpet
Australian actress and theatre director Cate Blanchett has decided to re-wear some of her most cherished looks at this year’s Venice Film Festival, and with good reason.
The first look she repeated was the Esteban Cortazar “Stingray” midnight blue shimmer jersey gown from the designer’s spring 2016 collection. While she rocked it at the Opening at the 77th annual Venice Film Festival, Cate also wore the design to the BFI London Film Festival “Carol” premiere in 2015, making a stunning case for sustainable fashion.
The actress also repeated a Custom Alexander McQueen Flower Embroidered Top from the Spring 2016 Collection (which first went down the runway styled with jeans!). Cate originally wore the design at the British Academy Awards in London in 2016 and paired it with a long feather skirt, but for the Venice Film Festival, the top was styled with black trousers to give a whole new vibe to the look. In the words of Cate herself, “Beautiful things can come out of sustainability!”
AND… the best part is, Cate and Esteban Cortazar have donated the gorgeous “Stingray” dress to the RAD at VENICE auction which will benefit @facinghistory -which uses lessons of history to challenge teachers and their students to stand up to bigotry- and @unwomen – a global champion for women and girls, established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide.
